Importance of Audio in an Ident...

Audio is crucial for a TV indent. It either sets the tone or engages with the audience. You can have someone speaking but also just music.
The most common form of audio that you will see on an ident is narrative and someone speaking. This is usually telling the audience what they thought of the previous show to be featured and give a little opinion on it, and then follow on by saying what is on next. This will really entice the viewer and engage them as they will feel involved due to the narrator speaking to them is telling what is on next and almost certainly starting a new debate or conversation for the viewer.

Another form of audio in idents is sound effects. They are not so common, however still have their part to play. This is because the use of sound effects can turn a head quickly is the audience is unfamiliar with that sound. By doing that, they have engaged with the TV and the ident has worked by bringing the viewers attention to the screen. It is then the viewers choice whether to watch the next program however the ident has still worked whether they do as attention has been brought. The use of music can also play a part in this. If there is a piece of music that is intriguing or sounds funky, there will be engagememnt to see where that music is coming from.
