David Carson

Born: 8th September 1955

Education: University of Arizona, San Diego State University

Profession:  Graphic Design, Typography

The former art director of the Ray Gun magazine's work revolutionised the the graphic design industry of the 1990s in the USA. Using typographies and distinctive lay outs gave him the nickname of the Godfather of grunge typography. His work is characterised by the chaotic typography and pattern it embodies and the disarray of photos overlapping one another. The use of typography has its own meaning and purpose, resembling the stroke of the painter's brush showing emotions.
